brocantehome: Leaves On The Track

No need for apologies. And this cosy, fragrant post makes up for any absence!

I am so completely relating to you right now! Sigh. There are just never enough hours in the day. (I'm stealing a few minutes from my work day right now!)

Oh the lives we would all lead if life didn't get in the way!
I've always had a certain sympathy with the official who first had to post the leaves on the line excuse - just because some hazards are only to be expected doesn't mean to say they are completely avoidable.
And I think your priorities are spot on too!.

Oh dear... is it worrying that most of that was oddly familiar, even though I don't yet have any children? *sigh*
  • Amy · 1 year ago
yes, I've been there myself lately, I can relate too :-)

Leaves on the track? That is pure rubbish! What you have is life to live dear girl and I think you are doing a very fine job of it. As much as I love to read yours and other blogs, I am really ok with you all not making excuses for not writting. You have invited us into your lives with the intention of sharing. Who says you have even have to? Let alone the amout you do. Stop telling yourself that we need to know why you haven't and just tell us the events as you want. You are fantastic in the writting arena,I wouldn't have you stop. Make up your mind to do what and when you will, and I think that you will find that you will still have us reading what you write. Enjoy this lovely season with all its busyness and lights!

Good god, don't even apologise or feel any excusing of yourself is necessary. What is life if not for LIVING young lady?!!! And no doubt there are a lot of avid blog readers who are just as busy and maybe not popping by to read as often as they might right now too.......

What a lovely post - worth waiting for! x

In my best Sybil Fawlty tones: ooh, I know... It's so cold I'm having trouble thinking. Honestly, I spend most of my time clutching a skull and crossbones hot water bottle and chasing thoughts round the room.

...as we would say in the south---that is the south of the united states of america---well honey ...bless your heart! ...we did miss you ...but this blog was such a hoot...it was worth the wait...turkey blessings to you too....

Alison, It is a strange time of year when all manner of things happen. When asked why I was late for work this morning I could only tell the truth "somebody has emptied a box of cornflakes over the windscreen of my car and due to the -2 temperature they had frozen to the window and were mighty difficult to remove." My boss retreated to his office to phone one of the psychiatrists and a social worker to come and section me when another collegue came into the office laughing "Clare, why have you got soggy cornflakes all over your car?" at which point the mental health professionals were stood down and I now have to make up one hour on Friday evening.

Oh, Alison--this hilarious and wonderful "catch-up" post certainly makes up for your being away a few days...as if you had to explain yourself to us, anyway!

But what in the world is up with your TVs?! You must kill them the way my husband kills watches.

Love it, love it, love it !!! As much as I hate it when you are "away" I get giddy with anticipation knowing that upon your return, we will be regaled with an extraordinarily fantastic/hilarious/relatable post (ALL your posts are great, notice I used "extraordinarily fantastic"!) detailing the reasons for your absence...ohhh Allison....you are such a gifted writer, with such excellent comedic timing, who could get mad at you, especially when you so eloquently put into words what we all experience every day?!
  • Jen · 1 year ago
Oh Alison, how wonderfully expressive you are! Love it :)

Ah hey - slow down woman. Remember to breathe occasionally. Ask yourself whether you want to be in a tizzy, or whether you'd like to enjoy the day as it stands. (Not saying I've learned that lesson, mind you!) Stop beating yourself up (Nope, not got that one down, either.)
As for Finley and the special needs police? Either he has special needs, or he doesn't. It doesn't change who he is. Maybe school expects too much too young, especially from boys. If they decide he has special needs, it will mean he gets extra support from the system- hopefully support for you too. I'm speaking as a mother of a boy with Asperger's, so we've definitely been there. Having a diagnosis can make things easier. But yes, maybe they're making too much of it. You know him better than anyone. You know whether you need to tell them to get off his back and give the kid a break, or whether there are genuine concerns about his development. He's still your gorgeous boy, either way.
Anyway, I know it can feel pretty scary once the SNP have been notified - so here's some juicy karma winging it's way to you. Remember that there are a lot of people out there with only good wishes for you. Be kind to yourself, no matter what.

I enjoyed this post! I was off-line most of this past week--it was just a crazy, task-filled week for us, LOL! I cannot imagine the cold you are experiencing. We've had some cold weather this week, but nothing like yours...I wouldn't mind a little snow down here in south Texas, though... *wishing* ;)

    Have a wonderful week!
    :)Hugs,
    Kat
